Question: Peeling a Pomegranate Tips?

whenever i open a pomegranate the juice goes everywhere! i even opened it underwater and the juice still went everywhere! what other things should i do?

Answer: Hey,
Just from the time you asked your question, it took me approx. 5 min. to completely deseed the rind.

I have been eating these things for many years and found it was the best time of NOT getting red, FAST and EASY.

Ready to eat.

Here's how::

Get a small bowl of water in the sink (makes it so much easier and less sloppy)

Cut off the top about a 1/2 in below the crown (it will squirt just a little from a few top seeds)

Score the sections with your knife at each section (4-6 sections -- this was new to me)

Open it up by separating at each score, to get individual sections (just like a grapefruit or orange) **** BUT hold it down into or close to a small bowl of water and it will spray the water and sink, NOT YOU.

Over the bowl of water, use your fingers to loosen the "arile" (the flesh-covered seeds) and drop into the bowl. They will sink to the bottom (most of them), and then scoop out any of the white membrane that floats to the top (some was still Stuck to my seeds -- that's why I took a little longer)

Then strain the seeds and enjoy just like any other berry.

**Use w/green salad, to brighten it up
**Sprinkle on yogurt or stir into dry cereal or oatmeal
**Sprinkle over your main dish for a lively, appetizing garnish.

HAPPY EATING (just got some large grapefruit sized -- never had 'em that big before)
